Retaining Immigrant Health Coverage in California

In recent years, California has made considerable gains to expand coverage for immigrants residing in the state. With proposed federal cuts to the Medicaid program and increased costs of care, these health coverage and access gains are at risk and may be impacted.

Insure the Uninsured Project (ITUP) and California Initiative for Health Equity & Action (Cal-IHEA) hosted an informative virtual event where policymakers, researchers, health advocates, and health care professionals described key issues on immigrant health and described strategies/recommendations to retain immigrant health coverage in California.

View Agenda

During this co-hosted event, ITUP and Cal-IHEA:

  • Discussed key issues affecting immigrant access to health care.
  • Provided insight into the potential impact of funding decreases for the state’s Medicaid program.
  • Discussed the health and coverage challenges for undocumented immigrants in California in navigating health care.
  • Discussed how advocacy organizations, policymakers, health care leaders, and researchers are working to improve health equity for immigrant populations.
